DAVE CHISNALLはRobert Thorntonをストレートで下し、Betway Premier Leagueをスタートさせた。現チャンピオンのGary Andersonは体調不良により開幕戦を欠場した。
ワールドチャンピオンのAndersonは、木曜日にウイルス性上気道感染症と診断されたため、Adrian Lewisと戦うチャンスを逃してしまった。
彼の欠場は初参戦のMichael Smithが２試合することを意味していた。そして元ワールドユースチャンピオンは、Premier Leagueのステージで、Peter WrightとAdrian Lewisに敗北するという厳しい立ち上がりを味わうことになった。
しかしながら、今夜最も注目を集めたのはChisnallのThorntonに対する7-0のストレート勝ちだった。

2014年チャンピオンのRaymond van Barneveldもまた素晴らしい試合運びで、9回中7回ダブルを成功させ、過去6回Premier Leagueで優勝しているPhil Taylorに7-2で勝利した。
Van Barneveldは10ダーツなどで早い段階で5-1とリードを奪う。そしてTaylorは113アウトでレグをとるが、オランダ人は16ダブルを2回あがり、完全に勝利した。
「勝ててうれしいよ」とvan Barneveld。「アベレージも103だったし、Premier LeagueのオープニングマッチでPhil Taylorから2ポイント取れたんだから、大満足だよ」

van Gerwenは反撃で5-4とするがWadeは121アウトを見せ、相手を追いつめると、5回目の180をマークし、81をブルであがって勝利を決めた。
「Michaelからポイントをとれる選手はそんなに多くないだろうからとても嬉しいよ。なぜなら彼は世界一のプレイヤーだからね」とWade。「Michaelはベストじゃなかったし、僕はあがらなければならない時にあがれたからそれで十分だったよ」

当初、Andersonと対戦する予定だった2回の世界チャンピオン経験者のLewisはアベレージ100でSmithを7-1で破った。6レグ連続で勝利し、13回中7回のダブルを成功させた。
「今日はダブルの成功率がよかったと思う」とLewis。「Michael Smith世界ランク8位だからきっと戻ってくるよ。彼にとっては初めてだからハードになると思う。だって、世界のトップ10が入れ替わりを繰り広げるからね」
「僕の気持ちはGaryとの対戦に準備してあったんだ。だからフォーカスを変えなきゃいけなかったんだけど、うまくいってよかったよ。僕はLeedsが好きだし、去年はここで素晴らしいプレーができた、それに今夜の観客は最高だったよ」
